Throughout our extensive experience in engineering high-performance, low-displacement 4-cylinder engines, we've consistently recognized the critical importance of maintaining robust head-to-block sealing. For this purpose, ARP head studs stand unmatched. Currently, there isn't a ready-made kit for the L15B7 engine, but by integrating select ARP components with custom-designed spacers, we've developed a solution that meets both our requirements and those of others.
ARP selects top-grade 8740 alloy for their studs, which undergoes a rigorous heat treatment process to reach a tensile strength of 200,000 psi, ensuring thorough heat penetration and a quality far surpassing that of inferior studs found in the market, which are often processed inadequately.
After heat treatment, ARP takes the additional step of centerless grinding each stud to achieve unparalleled concentricity. This meticulous process, involving around ten fine adjustments, yields a product of exceptional straightness.
Moreover, ARP's method of thread rolling the studs post-heat treatment significantly enhances their fatigue strength by approximately 1000% compared to those threaded before heat treatment, a prevalent but inferior industry method. Despite the higher cost due to the wear on tools, this process is a testament to ARP's commitment to excellence.
Key Features:
- ARP head studs for unmatched reliability.
- Made from 8740 chromoly steel with 12-point nuts for superior strength.
- Includes a correctly sized spacer to ensure accurate torque application of the head studs.
Benefits:
- Provides a higher clamping force to maintain seal integrity.
- Offers enhanced resistance to head lifting in high-boost scenarios, ensuring engine durability and performance.
Applications:

Yes! All ACT clutch assemblies are computer spin balanced to within .25 oz-in to guarantee help smooth operation across the entire RPM range. For comparison, stock production clutches are typically balanced to within .50 oz-in. Lower is definitely better!
ACT pressure plates are specifically designed to handle high torque applications. With ACT's durable design, expect an increase in pedal effort between 15-40% (Heavy Duty) and 50-80% (Xtreme), depending on the application. Clutches developed with less pedal effort often result in a lack of longevity, torque capacity and/or engagement quality.
For organic street discs, we recommend breaking in the clutch for 300-500 miles with mild engagement, such as stop-and-go city driving prior to racing or spirited driving. ACT race discs usually only require a few hard slips to lap in the surfaces prior to normal driving or racing. Do not overheat the clutch during the break-in period, as this can result in friction surfaces fusing together, hot spots, and friction surface glazing.
In some situations, rebuilds or repairs may be possible (see warranty), after inspection of the clutch assembly. Please contact our technical department for further information. Because of special modifications, we do not recommend servicing by a general clutch rebuilder.
The weight of the ACT clutch assembly will usually be the same as a stock OEM clutch assembly.
